HW1

Who benefits? That is the question I always ask. Who benefits with the Ernst Zundel persecution, as well as, the many others who fall under the same boot heel? I have been thinking of writing a paper about this subject. I am not sure yet.
Do the means justify the ends or does  the end justify the means? I say neither!   Why should Zundel( or anyone else, for that matter) be locked up in prison for questioning an historical issue? What evil did he commit?

  1. It'll be interesting to talk about tomorrow in class. I really don't know much about his writing, but I imagine the only way they should be allowed to detain him is if he lied about sources, and did indeed spread false news.

Ends justify the means? Only if he was truly spreading misinformation (false accounts, fake evidence, etc).

Means justify the ends? Same thing is true, really.

  2. this is a classical example of those in power declaring what is "true", when people question the holocaust they are labeled anti semitic, when they talk about slavery not being the primary cause of the civil war, they are called racist, all mass produced history is propeganda in the sence that if there is a truth that don't agree with what they want, they dont print it, TRUTH IS NOT RELATIVE

  3. It seems like there is more to this case than thats written. They can't just kick someone out of US because he wrote a book or had different opinions, there is something called freedom of speech. As far as I know in Germany you can't talk about the holocaust

  4. who am i to question someone else's opinion. i see truth as something that is different for everyone. the way i look at it, if you dont like what someone is saying, then walk away and dont listen. i dont understand why some people get so easily offended by things, life's to short to worry about other people and government shouldn't have anything to do with a persons opinion or personal view.

  5. As long as a person is not inciting violence, then it is right to punish someone because of their opinions even if I don't agree with them. Its not fair to imprison someone because they question history
